The Costanza is a phenomenon in which a front office executive retains their position for longer than seems logical or possible, despite the absence of anything resembling success or even basic competence. The Costanza fumbles through every day saying offensive or inane things, alienating those around him, and making his team worse. Yet he stays around inexplicably, much in the manner of the Seinfeld character, Yankees' assistant to the traveling secretary and lazy ass George Costanza.
